Let the no. of marbles with Preethi be X

Therefore,

No. of marbles with Swati = X - 10

A.T.Q,

X × (X - 10) = 375

or, X^2 - 10X = 375

or, X^2 - 10X - 375 = 0

or, X^2 - 25x + 15X - 375 = 0

or, X (X - 25) + 15 (X - 25) = 0

or, (X - 25) (X + 15) = 0

Either,

(X -25) = 0

or, X = 25

Or,

(X + 15) = 0

or, X = -15 ( negligible)

i) Answer :- The quadratic equation given to the sum is X^2 - 10X - 375 = 0

ii) Answer :-

No. of marbles with Preethi = X = 25 marbles

No. of marbles with Swati = X - 10

= 25 - 10 marbles

= 15 marbles
