Preeti purchased 4 t-shirts, 3 pants, 2 shirts, 2 saree and a pair of sandals. Cost of a t-shirt is Rs.500, cost of a pant is Rs.600. Saree and shirt cost Rs.600 each and pair of sandals cost Rs.500. What will Preeti have to pay for all the articles? Is it right to calculate the total amount as 500 x (4 + 1) + 600 (3 +2 +2) ? Give reason

 Given \: Cost \:of \:a\: t-shirt = Rs \:500

 Cost \:of \:a\: pant = Rs \:600

 Cost \:of \:Saree \:and \:Shirt  = Rs \:600

 Cost \:of \:each \:pair \:of \:sandals = Rs\:500

 Total \: amount \: of \: Preeti \: purchased

 = Cost \:of (4 \: t-shirts + 3 \:pants + 2 \:shirts

 + 2 \:sarees \:and \: pair \: of \: Sandals)

 = 4 \times 500 + 3\times 600

 + 2\times 600 +2 \times 600 +  500

 = 500( 4 +1 ) + 600( 3 + 2+2 )

 = 500 \times 5 + 600 \times 7

 = 2500 + 4200

 = Rs \: 6700

Therefore.,

 \red{ Calculate \: the \: total \: amount \:as }

 \green {\: 500( 4 +1 ) + 600( 3 + 2+2 ) }

 \green { \:is \: correct. }
