Preface
As a third year student at the University of Mumbai, I took my classes for accountancy, under our wonderful teacher Mr. Surat Agarwal, Asst. professor, school of business and accountancy.
I have been privileged to have studied under him and have greatly benefited from his knowledge, teaching method and amazing experience.
We have been assigned the topic of 'Accountancy for Manufacturing Business' by our teacher as part of our final semester project.
The project looks starts by looking at accounting in general and then goes on to elaborate, the differences between services and the manufacturing sector and how books are kept differently in both these industries.
This is followed by examples and suggestions, on how a small trader might manage their accounts in the initial stages of the business.
I would like to thank my parents who fully supported me throughout this project. I would also like to thank Mr. Rakesh Sharma from Penwala Manufacturer ltd. who was gracious enough to give me interviews and discuss my project with him.
While, not a solution in itself, I hope that this project will shed a light on an important topic and help the next semester understand accountancy concepts better
