NaOH
• Sodium Hydroxide
• Prepared by Chlor Alkali process
• A solution of Brine ( NaCl ) is electrolysed
In the anode , Cl- is liberated and on the cathode H+ and NaOH is liberated and hence the name chlor alkali
It is a very common base used for production of various more salts
CaOCl2
• Bleaching Powder
• Calcium Oxychloride
•Formed by the action of chlorine gas on dry slaked lime
• Used for paper , glass and steel manufacture and also for domestic purposes
NaHCO3
• Baking Soda
•Sodium Bicarbonate
• NH4 + CO2 + H20 + NaCl ==> NH4Cl + NaHCO3
• used as an antacid
•used for preparation of Baking powder
• used in fire extinguishers
•on heating it produces NaCO3 + h20+C02
