Birsa Munda was an Indian tribal and religious leader who showed resistance against the British government in Jharkhand. He led a Millenarian movement in what is now Bihar in the late 1800s. The movement was against twin changes brought by the white man - change in the agrarian system that gave the position of a farmer labourer and a cultural change. He has a statue at Bokaro Steel City. His accomplishments gain much more limelight due to the fact that he was below 25 at the time. He died on 9 June 1900.
