Explanation

  • There was a camel that resided in the midst of the desert. He eats only sticks, thorns, and prickles since those are the only things he can find in the desert. The Camel was so sluggish that all he ever said to everyone who spoke to him was "Humph." The Horse, Dog, and Ox held a panchayat and conversed with the Djinn while there. The Djinn agreed to look into the problem and teach the Camel a lesson. When the Djinn went seeking for the Camel, he found him staring at his own reflection in a pool of water. The Djinn reminded him that it was unjust because his idleness had forced the other animals to work harder.
  • The Camel gave another indifferent humph. When the camel finally saw its back, it had ballooned into a gigantic hump. The Djinn advised him that going three days without working was the cause of the humph. While carrying the Humph, the Camel could now labour for days without eating. That is also how camels got their hump. In the story, Rudyard Kipling does an excellent job of presenting the theme of sloth.
