Best Answer: I read that as a result of new laws banning child labour in India recently there was a huge upsurge in child prostitution.
Those who want to ban child labour never seem to think of, or to have any respect, for why the parents and children are doing it. According to the "ban it!" school of thought, they're doing it for fun; or they have no good reason for doing it.
It's all very well for well-fed people in rich countries to say that child labour should be banned, but not everyone in the world is well-fed in a rich country. Banning child labour for them really amounts to saying "I think you should starve so that *I* can feel good about not tolerating you working"! How is that social justice?
When a child in a third-world country dies of starvation, the death certificate doesn't give the cause of death as "well-intentioned but misguided government policies". It gives the *near* cause (eg diarrhoea, influenza), not the *ultimate* cause (self-opinionated westerners forcing people into starvation).
This is a major issue because *obviously* the parents and the child would prefer not to be working if they could avoid it - wouldn't we all? But that doesn't mean banning it is the right thing.
So the five minute skit should be a conversation between a child who had a job carrying bricks in a brick factory, who has been sacked because of child labour laws, and who now faces the choice between starving and prostitution, having a conversation with the self-righteous westerner who promoted the child labour laws that caused the child to be sacked.
The westerner could meet the child in the street, and says 'what are you doing here' and the child explains the choice he or she is facing, and with all wounded innocence, asks the adult how they could possibly have been so selfish and conceited and short-sighted and stupid.
