The flow chart from ploughing to yielding is as follows-
Ploughing→ Sowing seeds→ Applying manure→ Irrigation→ Weeding→ Crop harvesting→ Storage
Crop cultivation involves various activities carried out over a period by farmers. The different steps of cultivating paddy grain are-
Ploughing- Ploughing was done in the field before seed was sown. It is done in various ways such as the tractor and with the help of the bull.
Sowing seeds- It's the most important part of crop production. Now-a-days the seed drill with the help of tractors. This tool uniformly sows the seed at correct distance and depth. After the seed has been sown, the soil is covered.
Applying manure- Manure is added to the soil for plant healthy growth.
Irrigation- Water plays the key role for proper growth and development of fruits, flowers and seeds of plants. Farmer supplies water via moat, chain pump, dheki, rahat, sprinkler system, drip system etc.
Weeding- Weeding is needed in the production of crops. Some weeds interfere with harvesting and may be toxic to animals and humans. The use of chemicals such as 2,4-D, 2,4,5-T controls weeds.
Harvesting- After maturation, crop cutting is called harvesting. Cut or pulled out crops near the ground when harvesting.
Storage- Before preserving the crops, the grains are properly dried in the sun to decrease moisture. This prevents insects, pests, fungi and bacteria from attacking.
