Indian Parliament:
- India adopted a parliamentary system of government.
- Parliament is a bicameral legislature composed of the president of India and two houses: the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and the Lok Sabha (House of the People).
- The functions of the Parliament are mentioned in Chapter II of Part V of the Constitution of India.
- There are three bodies or organs of the Indian Parliament. They are:
- Legislature
- Executive
- Judiciary
Executive
- It is headed by the President, who is the state head & directly or by officers that rank below him, he exercises power.
- Prime Minister is elected by him who he thinks will succeed in heading the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the people of India, and represents the larger population.
- The person chosen by him is generally the same person who heads the majority party in India.
Legislature
- The Legislative Assembly comprises the lower house known as Lok Sabha, and the upper chamber called the Rajya Sabha.
- The President works keenly to implement policies for the Republic of India, to change them, and to implement them.
- In Rajya Sabha, members are indirectly elected whereas in Lok Sabha members are directly elected.
Judiciary
- The Judicial Branch of India is headed by the Supreme Court, which consists of 21 high tribunals and various district legal, criminal, and family tribunals.
- India's key civil and criminal rules are mentioned in Parliament's regulations.
- Examples like the Indian Code of Civil Procedure, the Indian Code of Punishments, and the Code of Criminal Procedure.
- Each federation and State government contains its own branches of government, law, and justice.
