In this problem,

lowest data = 1

highest data = 37

Given that, class interval should be 7

Therefore, the lower limit of first class is 1 and upper limit of the same class is 1 + 7 = 8

i.e., first class => 1 - 8

      second class => 8 - 15

If we encounter a data 8 in this case, we become confused about which class it belongs to. In order to avoid that, upper limit of every class is decreased by 1

i.e., first class => 1 - 7

      second class => 8 - 14

      and so on.

Also in this case, class width is calculated as

  • difference of lower limits of 2 consecutive classes (here 8 - 1 = 7)
  • difference of upper limits of 2 consecutive classes (here 14 - 7 = 7)
