Olympe de gouges was the daughter of a butcher. She was one of the most important of the politically active women in Revolutionary France. She was a playwright and a bold individualistic woman. She strongly protested against the constitution and the declaration of rights of Man and Citizen because they had not provided women even their basic rights. See in 1791,wrote a ' Declaration of the rights of Woman and Citizen'.
