Chennai - Road accident is the most undesirable thing to happen to any road user, although they take place quite often. Most of these accidents involve young people. The sad thing is that they do not learn from their mistakes on the road. The majority of young road users are well aware of the general rules as well as the safety measures when driving; however, it is only the negligence on their part that causes crashes and accidents. The main causes of accidents are because of human errors. The majority of the accidents that occur are due to over speeding by these young people. It is a natural psyche of humans to excel. Speed thrills young people at the cost of their life. If given an opportunity, they are sure to attain infinity in speed. However, when we are sharing the road with others we must always remain behind and have control over our speed.

If over speeding was not enough, another major cause for young people violating traffic rules is the consumption of alcohol by many young people to celebrate occasions that have been common these days. However, when combined with driving these celebrations turn into a misfortune. "Alcohol" dampens "fear and incites humans to take risks". All these factors while "driving cause accidents" and many times it has proven fatal. Also, distractions outside or inside the vehicle, such as talking on the mobile phone when driving impedes reaction time and capacity of judgment. This becomes one of the major reasons for accidents.

With the number of road accidents on the rise, it is essential that appropriate measures and strict enforcement of traffic rules and regulations amongst young people be implemented.
