Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, born in 1918, was the Amir of Abu Dhabi and also the man at the helm of the making of the United Arab Emirates.
He served as the President of the UAE from 1971 to 2004 and was also the supreme commander of the armed forces from 1971 to 2009.
