Vijayanagara had been trading rubies, diamonds and pearls etc in inland, coastal and oversea areas.

There were approximately 300 sea ports in the area

The trade partners were South Africa, Portugal, China Burma etc.

Mainly, Vijayanagara was dealing with cloth , utensils and perfumes.

However imports were mainly, horses, velvet, china silk, mercury etc. Whereas exports were cloths, rice, iron spices etc.

Agriculture was given great importance in the area. Since, agriculture was dependent on water supply, proper irrigation channels were made consisting of canals , tanks etc.

Moreover, they also declared some land as rent-free which made it easy for farmers to work
