Diwali is a great festival of lights celebrated with great rejoices in India. A festival of happiness, Diwali is celebrated by people of all cultures in India. Historically celebrated by Hindus generations after generations, Diwali indicates the victory of good over evil. Diwali falls in the month of October or November each year, based on different Hindu calendar dates. On this auspicious day, the whole country remains brightly lit with non-stop fireworks throughout the day night. Lamps, knows as diyas in Hindi are lit outside each home in the evening. People wear new cloths; make prayer offerings to God for well-being, prepare and exchange sweets within each other on Diwali with great delightfulness.
Hindus light up their homes and shops, to welcome the goddess Lakshmi, to give them good luck for the year ahead. A few days before Ravtegh, which is the day before Diwali, houses, buildings, shops and temples are thoroughly cleaned, whitewashed and decorated with pictures, toys and flowers. On the day of Diwali, people put on their best clothes and exchange greetings, gifts and sweets with their friends and family.

At night, buildings are illuminated with earthen lamps, candle-sticks and electric bulbs. Sweets and toy shops are decorated to attract the passers-by. The bazaars and-streets are overcrowded. People buy sweets for their own families and also send them as presents to their friends and relatives. At night, the goddess Lakshmi, is worshiped in the form of earthen images and silver rupee. Hindus believe that on this day, Lakshmi enters only the houses which are neat and tidy. People offer prayers for their own health, wealth and prosperity. They leave the light on in buildings believing that Lakshmi will find no difficulty in finding her way in.

As we all know that there are many festivals celebrated in India. but I think Diwali is most of the beautiful festival among the all. on the
occasion of diwali we decorate our house with electric bulbs and earthen lamps. According to Hindu mythology on the day of diwali Lord ram returned to a you hua after completing his 14 in jungle.and all the ayodhya people welcomed ram by lighting diya outside his home.
