Kurnool: The district is located in the west-central part of Andhra Pradesh, India. This district is prone to floods and experienced a number of floods in the last decade.

In the year 2009, the river Krishna was flooded and almost 400 villages were affected. This affected the over 13 lakh people and kurnool is one of the worst-affected districts due to the floods.  Tons of black cotton soil that was carried from the fields of Pathikonda and Kodumur area by the floods were deposited on the streets.

In the year 2018, the district also experienced floods as the dams cannot hold the water. Many surrounding districts were affected and the estimated loss of the floods were high. Many people lost their belongings and some even lost their houses. This was a result of heavy rains and several trains were cancelled due to stagnated water in the rails.
