St Mathews Academy celebrated Independence Day in a unique way. There was a fancy dress held for the children of the pre – primary section with the theme of national heroes
Independence Day celebrations
St Mathews Academy celebrated Independence Day in a unique way. There was a fancy dress held for the children of the pre – primary section with the theme of national heroes. It was a mesmerizing sight to see our little ones dressed as Maharani Laxmi Bai,Mahatma Gandhi,Jawaharlal Nehru and others.
To inculcate the spirit of brotherhood and camaraderie,a basketball match with the students playing against the staff was held on August 14. The staff was captained by Principal Dr. O. Mathews and the match was a draw.
Independence Day was celebrated with a flag hoisting ceremony. The school choir sand patriotic songs accompanied by the school musicians among whom were some Korean students. Eclairs sweets were distributed to all.
Debate competition
RIMS International School and Junior College organized a debate on July 24 for the students of class VI to IX. Some of the topics in the debate were — junk food,social networking sites,violence in films and beauty pageants.
The event was judged by Shabbir Khambatti – educational consultant for the Times of India; Mayur Ahuja – founder of Pune Model United Nations (MUN); and principal Shakuntala Jaisinghani.
Each category had two speakers,one speaking for the motion and the other speaking against. The depth of a debate only improves due to the knowledge and skill of the debaters,and this was evident in the rebuttal round. The homework done and the well versed performance of the speakers won applause not only of the judges but also the audience.
