Answer:

You all are aware that unfortunately in 1947 our country India got divided into two based on religion. For this I would say the power hungry politics were solely responsible. At last India got divided and new nation Pakistan was born from partition. Pakistan became Islamic Republic where Islam became state religion. At that time here in India some fanatics and fundamentalists people who belong to majority community argued that Hinduism should become state religion of India. But our forefathers who gave us the best constitution in the world were men great intellectual capability and knowledge. They were fully aware of the obstacles which would come if India becomes religious state because religion is beautiful only if it is kept separate from state and government. If religion mixes with state and government it will become a poison which would destroy the whole country. Thus our forefathers didn’t adopt any state religion and gave us a constitution. They realised the importance of secularism eventhough they didn’t add it in the preamble.
