INTRODUCTION TO MICRO PROPAGATION⇒

A whole plant can be regenerated from a small tissue or plant cells in a

suitable culture medium under controlled environment. The plant lets so

produced are called tissue-culture raised plants. These plant lets are a true

copy of the mother plant and show characteristics identical to the mother

plant. For example, if the mother plant is a high yielding plant the plant lets

will also be high yielding. Many plant species are presently being propagated

through tissue culture successfully.

Stages of Tissue Culture Process ⇒

Preparation of nutrient medium

A semi-solid medium is prepared in double distilled water containing macro

elements, micro elements, amino acids, vitamins, iron source, carbon source

like sucrose and Phyto-hormones. The medium is heated for dissolving the

agar and 25 to 50 ml is dispensed into each wide mouth bottles. The vessels

containing culture media are then sealed and sterilized by Auto-Claving.

Micropropagation of Lilium

Explanation:

  • Lilium longiflorum has a wide appropriateness in the botanical business as cut bloom and pruned plants.
  • Micropropagation in bulb plants is an option in contrast to the customary strategies for vegetative spread which pulls in a lot of consideration in view of its favorable circumstances, for example, many overlay duplication rate.
  • Lilium longiflorum has a wide materialness in the botanical business as cut blossom and pruned plants.
  • Micropropagation in bulb plants is an option in contrast to the customary strategies for vegetative proliferation which pulls in a lot of consideration in view of its focal points, for example, many overlay increase rate.
  • The effective micropropagation convention in L. longiflorum has been created.
  • The most elevated bulblet recovery (94%), greatest number of shoots (22), greatest shoot length (12 cm) and heaviest bulblets with normal crisp weight (365 mg) were acquired in MS medium enhanced with BA 2.0 mg/l + NAA 0.5 mg/l.
