Prepare equation for the given situation-The weight of Raju is 5 kg less than double the weight of Vinod. If the total weight of both is 40 kg, prepare the equation to find out the weight of each one.

SOLUTION :

Let the weight of Vinod be = x kg

ATQ.

Raju's weight = 5 kg less than double the weight of Vinod

Raju's weight =(2x - 5) years

Given : Total weight of Raju and Vinod = 40 kg

Total weight of Raju and Vinod = x + 2x - 5

40 = x + 2x -5

40 = 3x - 5

Hence, the required equation for the given situation is 3x - 5 = 40

Vinod's weight :

40 +5 = 3x

45 = 3xx = 45/3x = 15 kg

Weight of vinod is 15 kg

Weight of Raju = 2x -5 = 2×15 -5= 30 -5 = 25 kg.

Let, the weight of Vinod is m kg.

So, Raju's weight will be double of Vinod and less than 5 kg

Which means, 2m-5 kg.

Total weight = 40 kg

So, m+ 2m-5 =40 will be the equation

3m -5 = 40

3m = 40+5

3m= 45

m = 45÷3

m = 15 kg

So, Vinod weight will be 15 kg

and Raju weight will be,

2m-5 = 2*15-5

=30-5

=25kg
