Lyophilic means 'liquid-loving', it means on this colloidal solution there is a strong attraction between the dispersed phase and dispersion medium. Lyophilic sols are called hydrophilic sols- Starch, gum, gelatin, egg albumin etc are the examples.
Lyophobic means liquid hating. This means there is no interaction between dispersed phase and dispersion medium. The example of Lyophobic sols is Ferric Hydroxide sol.
