the story maternity describes the nobility of maternity, mikali an orphan refugee of about 14 years was forceful to take the responsibility of his younger brother. his mother had died at the time of its birth though mikali was healthy and robust ,he couldn't go for any work to earn his living .he was often chased by the other refugees because of the un interrupted howls of the young baby at this juncture a chinaman came before him and took him home he told him not to lose hope though the chinaman's room looked poor, it was neat and tidy , mikali saw their lovely baby sleeping in a cradle . the husband called his wife and told her to sit on a straw mat . he pull the baby on her lap when she saw the child ,she gave a cry of immense pitty then she pressed the baby to her heart and gave it breast milk the motherly love in her and the nobility of maternity is revealed in the story
