Prepare the email that Malcolm sends in reply to Macduff
- When Malcolm tells Macduff he is unfit to rule, he is actually only testing Macduff's reliability. Even while Macduff claims Malcolm would still be a superior ruler to Macbeth, his allegiance to Scotland eventually convinces him that Malcolm would not make a suitable ruler.
- Macduff won't abandon his allegiance to the Scottish royal line. Malcolm admits to lying and contrasts Macduff's "fidelity," "good truth," and "honour" with "Devilish Macbeth." He ends by declaring his total confidence in Macduff: "I put myself to thy direction."
- Malcolm speculates that Macduff might be working for Macbeth because the two used to be close. Ross visited Malcolm and Macduff in England for what reason? He urges Macduff and Malcolm to build an army and go back to Scotland to fight Macbeth.
- Based on this, Malcolm concludes that Macbeth won't be loyal to him because he hasn't done anything to Macduff. Malcolm begins to doubt Macduff's ability to exact revenge on Macbeth as a result of this.
