Good morning to everyone gathered here today. My name is Albert Ribeiro and I am your tour guide for today. I can see that you are all very eager to visit the Three Kings Church, which is a very famous landmark in Goa.
Before we go around the church, I will let you know a few facts. This church is actually called Our Lady of Remedios Chapel and the village that you see down the hill is called Chandor. The church was constructed in 1599 by Fr. Gonsalo Carvalo S.J. This church falls in Cansaulim and is one of the most popular churches in this area. This chapel commemorates the three magi or Kings from the East who went to Bethlehem to see baby Jesus when he was born. Every year on January 6th, the church celebrates the Three Kings Feast and it is one of the most popular feasts in Goa.
Now, several of you must have heard about the belief that the church is haunted and that after 8:00 pm, nobody usually comes to the vicinity of the church. It is actually not true. It was a rumour which does not have any basis but the church has become a popular destination for several tourists because of the rumour.
