• There are different types of materials like crude oil salt cellulose coal that go under the making of plastic. There are a number of compounds that get together to make crude oil and the distillation of this is the first step in making plastic.
• Fractions are formed on distillation of oil such that  heavier and lighter components are separated.
• Then poly condensation and polymerization are the two methods that the component has to go through to turn into plastic.  
• During the making of plastic and the process of polymerization the monomers that are present like ethylene are polymerized to form longer and bigger polymer chains and this is done under the presence of some special catalysts to support the reaction.
