It is very easy to verify this statement, we know that sodium hydroxide(NaOH) has hydrogen but we also know that it is a base. In fact, it is an alkali. Similarly, all bases contain OH negative ions, called as hydroxyl ions these contain hydrogen. If presence of hydrogen in and compound would have ensured its acidic nature, all the bases would have been acids.
