Answer
Given,
- Rs 140000 is paid by the cashier in Rs500 & Rs2000 notes
- Total notes he got is 100
To find,
- Number of notes of each denomination
Solution ,
Let 'x' be the number of 500Rs note
Let 'y' be the number of 2000Rs note
According to the question,
ᐅ 500(x) + 2000(y) = 140000
Dividing the equation by 500 .
Dividing the equation by 500 .We got,
ᐅ x + 4y = 280 ----------(1)
Also,
ᐅ x + y = 100 (given) -----------(2)
Now,
Subtracting (2) from (1)
ᐅ x + 4y - (x + y) = 280 - 100
ᐅ 3y = 180
ᐅ y = 180/3
ᐅ y = 60
Putting y = 60 in (2)
We get,
ᐅ x + 60 = 100
ᐅ x = 40
Hence number of 2000Rs note is 60 & number of 500Rs note is 40.
