Ratio of present age of Anil and Sunil = 2:3

After 6 years,

Ratio of Anil and Sunil will be = 5:7

Let suppose that common of ratio is x

Thus,

  • Present age of Anil = 2x
  • Present age of Sunil = 3x

After 6 years,

  • Age of Anil will be = 2x + 6
  • Age of Sunil will be = 3x + 6

According to the given question,

(2x + 6) : ( 3x + 6) = 5:7

\rightarrow \: \frac{(2x + 6)}{(3x + 6)}  =  \frac{5}{7}

On cross multiplication,

 \rightarrow14x + 42 = 15x + 30 \\  \\ \rightarrow - x =  - 12 \\  \\ \rightarrow \: x = 12

So from here, we found that value of x(common of ratio) is 12. So to find present age of Anil and Sunil, put value of x in supposed present age of Anil and Sunil.

Hence,

  • Present age of Anil = 2x = 2*12 = 24 years.
  • Present age of Sunil = 3x = 3*12 = 36 years.
