present age of Anu = 5x

present age of Meenu = 4 x

after 8 years,

the age of Anu = 5x+8

the age of Meenu =4x+8

since,

in question it is given that after eight years there age will be 6:5

therefore,

5 x + 8 / 4 x + 8 = 6/ 5

5(5 x + 8 )= 6 (4 x + 8)

25 x + 40 =24 x + 48

25 x -24 x =48 - 40

x=8

therefore,

present age of Anu = 5x

=5*8= 40years

present age of Meenu=4x

=4*8= 32years
