Let me introduce the reader to a simple method to attempt such questions.

Current ratio = 5:4

= 10:8 ( both ratios are equivalent)

Required ratio after 3 years = 11:9

We observe the difference between numerator and denominator is same, 2 , in both cases.

Comparing numerator with numerator and denominator with denominator, we find the gap is same ( 11 - 10 = 1) & (9 - 8 = 1)

=> If there is a gap of 1 year between the two ratios, the current ages are 10 & 8

Since the actual gap is 3 years, the required current ages is :

Rahul 10 x 3 = 30 & Akbar 8 x 3 = 24 years

Hope dis helps

Answer:

Let

Present age of Asgar be = 4x

Present age of Akbar be=5x

After ten years ,

Age of Asgar= 4x +10

Age of Akbar =5x+10

After ten years their ratio of their age will be 6:7.

Therefore their present age will be :-

=> 4x+10/5x+10=6/7

=> 7(4x+10)=6(5x+10)

=> 28x+70=30x+60

=> 28x-30x=60-70

=> -2x= -10

=> 2x=10

=> x=10/2

=> x=5

Age of Asgar=> 4x+10=4(5)+10

= 20+10=30

Age of Akbar=> 5x+10=5(5)+10

=25+10=35

Therefore present age Asgar & Akbar is 30 and 35 respectively.

I hope it will help you............
