Let the present age of son be x

and the present age of father be  2x

Therefore, ten years ago,

Son's age =  (x -10)

Father's age = (2x - 10)

And,

Father's age was thrice the age of the son

Therefore,

3(x-10)=2x-10\\\\3x - 30=2x-10\\\\3x-2x=30-10\\\\x=20

Hence, the present age of son =  20 yrs.

and,      the present age of father = 2×6

                                                        = 40 yrs   Ans.

Hope it will help you.......
