Solution

Let the present ages of Rana & Rohit be 5n & 9n years respectively.

According to Question :

➻ (5n + 6) : (9n + 6) = 7 : 11

➻ (5n + 6)/(9n + 6) = 7/11

➻ 7(9n + 6) = 11(5n + 6)

➻ 63n + 42 = 55n + 66

➻ 63n - 55n = 66 - 42

➻ 8n = 24

➻ n = 24/8

n = 3

Now finding present age of Rana :

⟼ Present age of Rana = 5n

⟼ Present age of Rana = 5(3)

Present age of Rana = 15 years.

Now finding present age of Rohit :

➝ Present age of Rohit = 9n

➝ Present age of Rohit = 9(3)

Present age of Rohit = 27 years.

Therefore,

Present ages of Rana & Rohit are 15 years & 27 years respectively.

→ 11(5x + 6) = 7(9x + 6)

→ 55x + 66 = 63x + 42

→ 55x - 63x = 42 - 66

→ -8x = -24

→ x = 24/8

→ x = 3
