Let present age of Shilpa be x and Srina be y.

x = 4

y 5

5x = 4y

5x - 4y = 0 ------(1)

Age of Shilpa after 4 years = (x+4)

Age of Srina after 4 years = (y+4)

x+4 = 6

y+4 7

7(x+4) = 6(y+4)

7x + 28 = 6y + 24

7x - 6y = -4 -------(2)

Rearranging eqn (1) , we get,

5x = 4y

x = 4y ------(3)

Substituting eqn(3) in eqn(2) ,

7(4y) - 6y = -4

28y - 30y = -20

-2y = -20

y = -20 = 10

Putting value of y , in eqn(3),

x = 40/5 = 8

(x,y) = (8,10)

So , Present age of Shilpa = 8 years

and , Present age of Srina = 10 years
