Let present age be a

Then,

Present age of X= 5a

Present age of Y= 6a

After 7 year,

Age of X= 5a+7

Age of Y= 6a+7

Ratio given is,

  • 5a+7 : 6a+7 = 6:7
  • 5a+7 / 6a+7 = 6/7
  • 35a+49=36a+42
  • 49-42=36a-35a
  • a=7

Present age of X = 5a= 5x7 =35

Present age of Y = 6a= 6x7 =42

After 7 years,

Age of X= 35+7=42

Age of Y= 42+7=49

Answer:

Let present age be a

Then,

Present age of X= 5a

Present age of Y= 6a

After 7 year,

Age of X= 5a+7

Age of Y= 6a+7

Ratio given is,

5a+7 : 6a+7 = 6:7

5a+7 / 6a+7 = 6/7

35a+49=36a+42

49-42=36a-35a

a=7

Present age of X = 5a= 5x7 =35

Present age of Y = 6a= 6x7 =42

After 7 years,

Age of X= 35+7=42

Age of Y= 42+7=49
