On 18 April 2020, India changed its foreign direct investment (FDI) policy to protect Indian companies from "opportunistic takeovers/acquisitions of Indian companies due to the current 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic", according to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
