presnt ages of sateesh and ajay are in the ratio 2:5 and six years later their ratio is 7:13 .what is sateesh present age

Let,

 the present age of sateesh be 2x
Present age of ajay be 5x
_______________________________________

After 6 years,

 \frac{2x + 6 }{5x + 6} =  \frac{7}{13}

13 (2x +6)= 7(5x + 6)

26x + 78 = 35x + 42 

78 - 42  = 35x - 26x 

36 = 9x

36/9= x 

4 = x 
______________________

Present age of sateesh = 2 x 
                                      = 2 × 4 
                                       = 8 years

Let the present age of Sateesh and Ajay be 2x and 5x years. Then,

After 6 years ,

Sateesh's age = (2x + 6) years

Ajay's age = (5x + 6) years

According to question ,

(2x + 6):(5x + 6) = 7:13

=> 2x + 6/5x + 6 = 7/13

=> 13(2x + 6) = 7(5x + 6)

=> 26x + 78 = 35x + 42

=> 26x - 35x = 42 - 78

=> - 9x = - 36

=> x = -36/-9

=> x = 4

Hence , Sateesh's present age

= (2 × 4) years

= 8 years.
