Press Trust of India (PTI) is the largest news agency in India.[1] It is headquartered in New Delhi and is a nonprofit cooperative among more than 500 Indian newspapers and has more than 1,000 full-time employees, as on January 22, 2016.[2][3] It employs over 400 journalists and 500 part-time correspondents located in most of the district headquarters in the country.[4] A few correspondents are based in major capitals and important business centres around the world. It took over the operations of the Associated Press of India from Reuters after India's independence in 1947.[5][6] It provides news coverage and information of the region in both English and Hindi. Its corporate office is located at Sansad Marg, New Delhi and registered office in D N Road, Mumbai.

But it actually started working as a company from 1949. It has its headquarters in New Delhi, corporate office at Sansad Marg, and registered office in D.N. Road in Mumbai. It serves worldwide. Its correspondents are spread all across the world, in major capitals and leading business and administrative centres. The studies show that PTI shares 90% of the new agency market share of India.

Currently, the Chairman of PTI is Mr. N. Ravi (The Hindu), Vice Chairman is Vijay Kumar Chopra, and the CEO is Mr. Venky Venkatesh.
