Answer: option (3): 750 kg/m³

Explanation:

The height from the bottom of water column, hw = 15 cm = 0.15 m

The height from the bottom of oil column, ho = 20 cm = 0.2 m

The density of water, dw = 1000 kg/m³

We know that the pressure of the static fluid depends only upon the depth of the fluid, density of the fluid, and the acceleration of the gravity. So,

P = h * d * g ….. (i)

Let the density of oil be denoted as “do”.

Now,

[The pressure  of water on the left side] = [The pressure of oil on the right side]

hw * dw * g = ho * do * g

based on the formula (i) and substituting the given values, we get

⇒ 0.15 * 1000 * g = 0.2 * do * g

⇒ do = [0.15 * 1000] / 0.2

do = 750 kg/m³

Thus, the density of oil is 750 kg/m³.
