2 tables = 5 chairs

table-chair price ratio is 2.5:1

1 table and 1 chair cost 1099

this gets divided by 3.5 and you get the price for 1 chair, then you multiply with 2.5 and you get the price for 1 table

785 is the price for 1 table

314 is the price for 1 chair

you multiply 758 with 3 and multiply 314 with 2 and add it together

now you got the cost of that. 2902

MrRegister: correct:
a(table),b(chair)
2a = 5b(1a = 2.5b)
4a+4b = 4396 = 10b+4b = 4396 = 4396/14=314(cost of b)
3a+2b = 7.5b + 2b = 9.5b = 9.5 * 314 = 2983
MrRegister: I multiplied 758 with 3 not 785 with 3 thats why the end is wrong
MrRegister: the "correct" is easier for you to understand, atleast I hope that
