Answer:

The percentage decrease in price of diesel is 2.434%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Initial price of diesel = Rs. 49.71

Current price of diesel = Rs. 48.50

To find : Is there a decrease or increase in the price of diesel?

Find the percent decrease or increase, as the case may be.

Solution :

  • It is given that Initial price of diesel = Rs. 49.71

Current price of diesel = Rs. 48.50

  • We have to find the increase or decrease in the price of diesel.
  • As we can see that current price of diesel is less than initial price. It means that there is decrease in price of diesel.
  • Now, find the decrease in price of diesel.

Decrease in price of diesel = Initial price - current price

                                                 = 49.71-48.50

                                                 = Rs. 1.21

  • Now, % decrease in price = \frac{1.21}{49.71} *100

                                          = 2.434%

  • ∴ The percentage decrease in price of diesel is 2.434%.

As per the data given in the above question.

In the given question we have the details as follows.

The given data is price of diesel was Rs. 49.71

The new price of diesel is Rs. 48.50

We have to find the decrease in the price of diesel.

Thus, the decrease in price of diesel is as follows,

 = 49.71 - 48.5 \\ = rupees1.21

Now the percentage decrease in price of diesel is as follows,

 = \frac{1.21}{49.71} \times 100 \\ = 2.43

Hence 2.43% of decrease in the price of diesel.
