Pride before a fall befits max who said I will get it back tonight . Was he successful? What lesson we can learnt from this

Max leapt to his own death because Ausable showed a presence of mind. His pride was his weakness, as his adversary was underestimated.

• Max was stubborn and an arrogant person. He was a detective who wanted to be the hero of the  case. He required all the hidden items Ausable found.
• He felt superior to Ausable and pointed a pistol at him, believing that his mission would certainly succeed. But, the relatively easy Ausable had easily outwitted him.
• He was unsuccessful in accomplishing his assignment and ended up taking his life.
