The Titanic was a British passenger ship that sank on April 15, 1912 during its maiden voyage. Equipped with almost all the best facilties, the ship did not have enough lifeboats or lifejackets to meet the need of all its passengers. There were just 20 lifeboats that could serve a little more than half of the passengers. The crew and the shipbuilders were quite confident that the ship was built with the best technology and that it would not sink. However, because of maritime safety regulations and overconfidence on part of the staff that the liner would not sick, they did not stock enough number of lifeboats for everyone. Part way through the journey, the Titanic encountered a head-on collision with an iceberg. This resulted in water seeping into the ship with full force and claiming the lives of more than half of the travelers.
