Pride of Bangladesh awards wish to recognize ordinary Bangladeshi people at home and away who have done or are doing extraordinary acts. We wish to discover them and honour them with ‘Pride of Bangladesh awards’. Second limb is, ‘A Vision For a Mission’. Under this limb we wish to try to do something extra-ordinary to make a change in the socioeconomic condition in Bangladesh for which our nation will be proud.
Anyone who wishes to express his/her vision and mission about Bangladesh & Bangladeshis, we will publish his/her vision and mission in our website.
The achievements of remarkable people are recognized, celebrated, awarded and rewarded in glittering and glamorous ceremonies almost everywhere in the world. Here in Britain, we can see individuals are honoured with things such as MBE, OBE, knighthood and so on by her majesty the Queen on her birthday every year, for extraordinary acts of selflessness. In our Bangladeshi community in the UK, achievements are also recognized by award giving ceremonies such as the British Curry Awards, chef of the year awards and so on.
The individuals who are acknowledged and awarded are extraordinary people from all walks of life, for example, they are highly qualified professionals, established businessmen, politicians, academics or researchers. However, there are few, if not many ordinary individuals in every community who have done or are doing extraordinary acts to make the life of others better without expecting any praise or awards. But the selfless acts of such unsung heroes or heroines do not go undiscovered. They are spotted and awarded at some point in their life. We can see this in the Pride of Britain awards giving practices over the last 15 years.
Do we Bangladeshi people have such ordinary people doing extraordinary jobs? Do we have unsung heroes or heroines who are doing things which are beyond the call of duty? Do we have some individuals of Bangladeshi origin who are showing remarkable bravery, selflessness and acts of honesty? YES WE HAVE!
Then shouldn’t we recognize them? Award them? Reward them? Feel proud for them?
YES WE SHOULD!
Pride of Bangladesh awards would like to acknowledge the most extraordinary and selfless people of Bangladesh by giving them recognition. An act which brings peace, prosperity and unity in the society as a whole which set up examples and inspires others and which make others feel proud.
Pride Of Bangladesh is such an initiative, for ordinary Bangladeshi people living in Bangladesh or elsewhere, who have done extraordinary acts to be recognized and awarded with pride of Bangladesh awards. Acts, must not be in the course of business, employment or duties including politics.
Finally, your opinions, suggestions and support will be acknowledged and appreciated. Please note, that nominees of the winners of the awards will also be acknowledged and rewarded.
Please join us and make this new initiative a success and be proud of who we are and what we are. We are Bangladeshis, we are a great nation, we got our prides, history, heritage and culture. Let’s explore and discover them, help our future generation to feel proud to be Bangladeshi.
The word Ethnic comes from Ethnicity is derived from the Greek word ethnos which refers to "nation". Now a day the term refers to people who possess common ancestry and a distinctive culture. So, in short, ethnic people refer to the people of same nationality but of different cast, culture, tradition and religion.
There are about thirteen ethnic groups in our country and most of them live in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). The Chakma, the Marma, the Chak, the Mro, the Mrong, the Santal, and the Tripura are the well known ethnic groups in Bangladesh. They mainly live in the hill though many of them have recently settled in the plains. Beside CHT, there are some other ethnic people scattered in different region of Bangladesh such as Sylhet, Moulavi Bazar, Patuakhali and a few live in Jessore. The ethnic people of Bangladesh are mainly follower of Buddhism but there are some Christian, Hindus and even Muslims.
