Prince Birendra once got hold of some monkeys
and trained them to dance. Being great
imitators of human beings, they soon mastered
this skill. One day, the prince dressed them up
in rich clothes and masks. No one could say
that they were monkeys. They put up a great
show before his father, the king of Rajnagar, in
his court. The king and his ministers applauded
the performance. They never realized that the
dancers were, in fact, monkeys. Prince Birendra
had a mischievous younger brother Prince
Kapish. He knew who the dancers were. He
decided to play a prank. He took out from his
pocket a handful of nuts and threw them before
the dancing monkeys. On seeing the nuts, the
monkeys forgot their dancing, pulled off their
masks, tore their robes, and started fighting
with each other for the nuts. Everyone was
surprised on seeing monkeys instead of real
dancers. The dancing spectacle finally came to
an end with the audience laughing and making
fun of the monkeys.
