EXPLANATION:
The purpose is to seal the container and keep out from water and air. The wax in widely spread in order to keep the wax lighter and stays it on top.
This process helps in preventing the contamination by microorganism like bacteria, fungi etc., since it is made of sugar syrup it is more likely to get attack by micro-organism.
