A major role of printed in the religious reforms in India are_

1.)The advent of print media has not only transformed the society indeed it has revolutionized it, drastically changing our relationships with knowledge, social institutions, authority.

2.)19th century and reform movement in India was largely the result of print media which made people aware about social ills like sati, child marriage,female infanticide, untouchability.

3.)It helped in forming public opinion who largely fell that such evils are detrimental to democracy and development of the society creating an enlightened and progressive public outlook.

4.) Print also opened a platform for discussion for those who were against such reforms.

5.)Print revolution brought about a huge debate amongst the socio-religious reformers on one hand and the orthodox elements of Hindu and Muslim who were averse to literacy amongst women.

6.)Print also encouraged people to read religious texts in local vernacular languages for example, Ramcharitmanas by Tulsidas was published in calcutta. As these texts reached to larger audience it encouraged debates, discussion among the people on religious ideas and beliefs.
