Given : printing machine A and printingmchine B print the same newspaper printout, but machine B prints half the rate of machine

each machine prodces 200 newspaper printout, and operate at different times fo a total of 4 hours,

To Find  :  what is the rate of each printing machine?

Solution:

Let say machine A print  new paper per hour = 2P

B prints half the rate of machine A.

=>  B print  new paper per hour = 2P/2 = P

Let say machine A run  for  T hrs

Then machine B runs for 4-T hrs

Total Newspaper printed by  machine A  = 2P * T   = 200

=> PT = 100

Total Newspaper printed by  machine A  = P*(4 - T)  = 200

4P - PT = 200

=> 4P - 100 = 200

=> 4P = 300

=> P = 75

=> 2P = 150

Machine A prints 150 news paper per hr

Machine B prints  75 news paper per hr

rate of each printing machine are 150 & 75 news papers per hr
