Answer:

There are various reasons as why Prithivi Naryan Shah chose Kathmandu as the capital of unified Nepal. The most probable reasons are mentioned below.

Kathmandu was a centrally located prosperous city in terms of culture, traditions, architecture and civilization befiitting as the most suitable for capital of unified Nepal.

Kathmandu was a valley surrounded by hills from all sides which made it secured from a military point of view.

The soil of the valley was known to be very fertile which would mean higher agricultural yield for the nation.

Kathmandu had trade route and relations with Tibet and India from centuries before the unification campaign so Prithvi Naryan Shah wished to take benefit from trade ties with Tibet and India from this route.

Moving the capital to Kathmandu would make it easier for Prithivi Narayan Shah to continue with his unification campaign. Kathmandu lied in a strategically important location because of which it would be easier to launch attacks on the neighbouring Kingdoms.
