As we know that, formula for current is

I= N*e*A*Vd ----(1)

And,

Current density acc to definition is amount of current present per unit area.

That is,

J= I/A

Putting eq (1) in this we get,

J = (N*e*A*Vd)/ A

Cancelling A i.e. area

J= N*e*Vd

Where, J- current density

Vd - drift velocity.

So as we can see from this final eqn

J is directly proportional to Vd
