Subject: Large scale deforestation near Sharanpur

Sir:

I am writing this letter to express my deep concern over the large scale deforestation in villages near Saharanpur and along the banks of Yamuna. A multinational company has acquired 500 acres of land to set up a big manufacturing unit. This land has a huge natural forest cover, which will be cleared for the manufacturing plant.

This will lead to ecological imbalance. The city of Sahranpur is already one of the most polluted city in the country; this will make it further polluted. Other people are also cutting the trees in the area. The Government official are just ignoring it indifferently.

Through the medium of your esteemed daily I appeal to the people and the concerned authorities to look into it and take preventive measures. I hope you will give my views enough space in your esteemed daily.

Thanking you.

Yours truly,

Priya Malhotra
